Sabong addiction leads QC police to commit armed robbery

A courier service outlet in San San Miguel, Bulacan was robbed and the police released video footage of a lone gunman robbing the establishment at around 1:00 PM, Monday.

Minutes after the first robbery, police were alerted and monitored another courier service outlet in the neighboring San Ildefonso town. As expected, the suspect fled to San Ildefonso and was immediately arrested.

The suspect was identified as PO2 Moises Yango, a police officer assigned at Mobile Force Battalion of Quezon City Police District, living in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

Arresting officers recovered the stolen P5,000 cash including a 9mm pistol and a hand grenade used in the robbery.

According to the chief of police of San Ildefonso, authorities of Gapan, Cabanatuan, Saragoza reported that the suspect had a number of previous similar cases according to a number of complainants.

The suspect admitted that he did the robbery because he’s in massive debt due to online sabong addiction.

B/Gen Antonio Yarra, Quezon City police district director said they will make sure that Yango will be terminated from his position and will face multiple administrative and criminal charges.
