The devastation caused by typhoon Quinta left us with tons of damaged banana and many of them have young banana fruits that not even qualified to be made nilupak. Thinking of what can be done, I decided to have some experiments and boiled some. I then sliced it and the chicken really loved it. Here is the video below of the total procedure. Banana is not the only fruit that we can give to our chickens as additional food. By doing this experiment, we found out that banana is an effective alternative food for chicken and can be considered as homemade organic chicken feed. Organic Food for Chicken: Sweet Potato (Kamote) Leaves

In the previous article, we discussed preparing young banana fruit as an organic alternative for commercial chicken feeds. In this article, we are going to show you how to prepare sweet potato leaves (dahon ng kamoteng baging) and mix them into commercial feeds so we can lower the cost of commercial feeds and at the same time giving our birds organic foods. Although sweet potato leaves cannot give all the nutrients needed by the chicken, it is still one of the best addition if we want to lower our chickens’ commercial feed consumption. Now only sweet potatoes are found almost everywhere, they are edible to all animals including cattle and ruminants.
